KP6180 RAIN is a tiny desktop RFID reader with integrated UHF module and antenna, designed to read and write tags compliant with ISO 18000‑6C / EPC Class 1 Generation 2.
Operating in the ETSI 865–868 MHz band, it achieves read ranges of up to 30 cm, depending on tag type and installation environment.
Its small footprint makes it a perfect fit for desks and counters in production line management, workstation control, access control, library management and jewellery applications.
Key features
- RAIN RFID UHF support for ISO 18000‑6C / EPC Class 1 Gen 2 tags, ensuring broad compatibility with EPC UHF labels and cards.
- ETSI 865–868 MHz operation, compliant with European radio regulations for UHF RFID.
- Typical reading distance up to 30 cm with suitable UHF tags, depending on tag size, orientation and surrounding materials.
- USB Type‑C interface for both power and data, simplifying connection to PCs and other host systems.
- Two operating modes:
- Flexible output formatting: the reader can output serial numbers (EPC) and user memory content in HEX or ASCII format.
- Designed for intensive tag reading, writing, authorization and formatting operations in desktop scenarios.
Software and integration
- Delivered with a user‑friendly software development kit (SDK) and configuration tool for Windows operating systems, enabling quick setup and application development.
- Provides an operating‑system‑independent command protocol in Virtual COM mode, allowing custom integration on different platforms that support serial communication.
- HID mode offers true plug‑and‑play behaviour with no special drivers or software required, since the reader appears as a standard keyboard to the host system.
Typical applications
- Production line and workstation management: identification of components, work‑in‑process items and finished goods at fixed stations or benches.
- Access control: reading UHF RFID badges for logging entries/exits and verifying credentials at doors or gates.
- Library and archive management: quick identification of books and media tagged with UHF RFID.
- Jewellery and retail: tracking high‑value items, performing fast inventory on the counter and supporting anti‑theft and stock control workflows.
- Front‑office and service desks where short‑range, easy‑to‑use UHF RFID reading is required in a confined area.
Main benefits
